Amendment

Section I

  1. Article I, Section III, Clause 2 and 3 of the Constitution of the Boston University Student Union shall be stricken, and replaced with Section II of this Amendment.
  2. Article VIII, Section I, Clause 5 of the Constitution of the Boston University Student Union shall be stricken, and replaced with Section III of this Amendment.
  3. Section IV of this Amendment shall be inserted as Article VII, Section II, Subsection ii, Clause 5 of the Constitution of the Boston University Student Union.
  4. Section V of this Amendment shall be inserted as Article I, Section I, Clause 4 of the Constitution of the Boston University Student Union.

 

Section II

  1. The Executive Board standard term of office shall commence the date of the start of the spring semester, as determined by the University Registrar’s Standard Academic Calendar.
  2. The Executive Board standard term of office shall cease the day prior to the start of the following spring semester, as determined by the University Registrar’s Standard Academic Calendar.
  3. Standard elections shall be administered by the Student Elections Commission, and must be conducted at least four weeks prior to final examinations. There will be a campaign period of not less than ten University business days.

Section III

  1. To ensure continuity of government, and impartial Constitutional custodianship, the members Judicial Commission shall have terms of office opposite the Executive Board (e.g. in instances where the Executive Board begins the first day of the spring semester, the Judicial Commission term of office begins the first day of the fall semester.)

 

Section IV

  1. Chairpersons shall be reconfirmed at the start of each semester, to ensure their guidance meets the needs of committee members and the undergraduate student body.

 

Section V

  1. Upon completion of term of office, or upon impeachment or resignation, no Executive Board member shall hold a sustained advisory role without a simple majority vote of either the Senate or the undergraduate student body to prevent undue influence.
